The VA and Kaiser Pemanente, a private health care organization, plan to partner on a new project which will hopefully deliver better service to our nation’s veterans.
A pilot program will be tested in the San Diego which will allow for both government and private medical providers to easily exchange medical records regarding veteran patients. Veterans in the area who receive care from both the VA and doctors in the Kaiser Permanente network will be mailed letters asking if they’d like to participate in the program.
Records will be shared “electronically, safely, securely, and privately” allowing for a better continuity in care.
This could have interesting implications for a veteran applying for disability, so stay tuned to find out if the VA expands this program in the future.
