The Independent Living Program (ILP) is administered through the VA’s Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Services. It is available to veterans whose service-connected disabilities are so severe that they are unable to pursue their employment goals.
According to the VA’s website, if accepted into the ILP, a veteran will qualify for services such as:
- Assistive technology
- Specialized medical, health, and/or rehabilitation services
- Services to adjust personal and/or family adjustment issues
- Independent living skills training
- Connection with community based support services
Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors are available to assist severely disabled veterans in developing an individualized rehabilitation program plan and meeting career goals, if you are able to go back to work.
