The History Channel’s “Take a Vet to School Day”

For the second year in a row, the History Channel is sponsoring “Take a Vet to School Day” to honor our nations veterans and link them with young people in schools and communities nationwide.

Through the History Channel’s online initiative, educators can access curriculum and planning guides, student participation forms, oral history guides and more. Lesson plans are categorized by grades K-4, 5-8, and 9-12.

Teachers and school officials are encouraged to reach out to veterans in their communities through local American Legion chapters and military bases. Veterans can be proactive and contact local schools to tell them about the program and volunteer to visit the school.

To further support veterans and their families, the History Channel has donated $50,000 to veterans organizations.
