Yesterday, an officer in the Army allegedly took fire on fellow soldiers and civilians at an Army Readiness Center at Fort Hood in Texas. At least thirteen people died due to injuries sustained in the attack and an additional 28 were reportedly injured.
Contrary to initial reports, police now believe that there was a lone shooter. The alleged shooter, Major Nidal Malik Hasan, survived the massacre. More information is coming out as the story develops, but Hasan was a practicing psychiatrist at the Darnall Army Medic Center and was expected to ship out to Iraq soon. Hasan had treated patients at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and has family roots in Palestine.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by this tragic event.
