Veterans enrolled in the Audie Murphy Veterans Hospital healthcare system in San Antonio, Texas, are complaining that they are getting substandard care.
A group of veterans met with the media to air their grievances and bring attention to what they believe is a problem at the VA. According to San Antonio’s KSAT 12, the veterans cited delayed appointments and rude treatment as problems that need to be addressed by the hospital’s new administrator, Marie Weldon.
Although she was reportedly asked “several times” by the station to respond to the veterans’ concerns, she refused an interview and instead issued a statement, saying that the VA is “committed to providing excellent customer service and expect employees to treat all veterans with respect.”
