Texas Senate to Focus on Veterans’ Benefits

In an effort to make Texas a state where veterans feel their service is valued, the Texas Senate Veterans Affairs and Military Installations Committee stated they were going to focus on veterans’ benefits such as employment, education, and mental health needs.

The issue of mental health has moved to the forefront of the focus of the committee as one of the more important veterans’ benefits issues. It was announced previously that millions of dollars would be set aside in order to be applied to veteran’s mental health programs. One specific focus for these funds will be given to helping soldiers reintegrate not only back into society, but also into their families. So many returning soldiers are suffering from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or other mental health problems, families are being very negatively affected.
