A new study conducted by researchers at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System and Yale University School of Medicine has identified a statistical difference in male and female veterans’ reports of pain. The study followed 153,212 veterans (18,481 female; 134,731 male) for one year after their last deployment. Veterans’ records were evaluated and categorized according to their report of “any pain”, “moderate-severe pain,” and “persistent pain.” Women veterans were less likely to report “any pain” and “persistent pain” than their male counterparts.
