Spotlight on a Veterans Organization – Wreaths Across America

In 1992, the Arlington Wreath Project was started by Morrill Worcester of Worcester Wreath in Maine. That year, Mr. Worcester donated 5,000 Christmas wreaths which were laid at the graves of veterans in Arlington National Cemetery. In 2005, a photograph of the wreaths in the cemetery circulated the internet and Mr. Worcester’s philanthropic  project garnered national attention.

Cemeteries across the country were interested in the wreath project and in 2007, the Worcester family established the Wreaths Across America non-profit. Over 100,000 wreaths were laid at veterans graves in 2008 at hundreds of cemeteries in the US and overseas.

To sponsor a wreath, you can donate $15 to Wreaths Across America.  Learn more about this organization and how there are fulfilling their mission of “Remember, Honor, Teach.”
