The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) is a nonprofit organization, chartered by Congress in 1936. The organization is dedicated to serving current military personnel and veterans who have been in combat. In fact, the organization has 1.6 million combat veterans as members – more than any other organization of its kind.
Who is eligible to join the VFW?
If you are in the US military or are a veteran, you may be eligible to join the VFW if:
- You are a U.S. citizen
- You are in the military or received an honorable discharge
- You served overseas during a conflict for which you received an expeditionary medal, a campaign medal or ribbon, or imminent danger/hostile fire pay
- You meet other eligibility requirements based on your deployment history.
