Massachusetts Senate Voted to Improve Veterans’ Benefits

The Massachusetts Senate approved legislation on Thursday making improvements in veterans’ benefits, access to services, veterans’ voting rights, and veteran’s employment. 

On Thursday, the Massachusetts Senate approved legislation to improve veterans’ benefits and access to overseas voting. The bill, An Act to Provide Benefits for Veterans and Servicemembers, makes provisions allowing Massachusetts residents deployed overseas to engage in the voting process via electronic absentee ballots. 

The bill is headed to the Massachusetts House of Representatives. The Senate version of the bill also included provisions amending the Massachusetts Welcome Home Bill bonus program, created exemptions for honorably-discharged veterans, and provides for the Commonwealth to study the ability to provide more health care services to veterans.
