Perhaps one of the largest Veterans Day parades in the South Florida area will be held in Homestead, Florida, this Wednesday. Homestead is a city south of Miami in Miami-Dade County, and the parade will mark its 48th annual celebration of Veterans Day.
Participants in the event will march along Flagler to Krome Avenue and then north on Eighth Street and east to Flagler. The parade will start at noon, though groups being lining up around 11 a.m.
Organizations marching in the parade this year include:
- The American Legion Post 43
- U.S. Military Veterans Motorcycle Club
- South Florida Trail Riders
- Junior ROTC members
- Civil Air Patrol from Miami Southride H.S.
The grand marshals of the parade are Brig. Gen. William Binger and Brig. Gen Hector Pagan, and the emcee will be Jim Pierce.
Homestead is home to many veterans and the Homestead Air Reserve Base.
