Fallen Marine’s retiree father starts second career as veterans’ agent

The town of Pembroke, Massachusetts, has hired a new veterans’ agent who is uniquely qualified to help the local men and women who have served in the military. David McPhillips, lost his son, USMC 1st Lt. Brian McPhillips, when he was killed in Iraq in April 2003. Mr. McPhillips is also a veteran, having served in the Marine Corps from 1968-1972 during the Vietnam War.

McPhillips was selected from three candidates who interviewed for the job with the town’s city officials. He was formerly a manager at the Hertz rental car company and has been active in his community. The position is of a part-time nature but David McPhillps told the Pembroke Express that he expects it will be a full-time commitment.

Congratulations to David McPhillips – we salute him for his service to his country, the “ultimate sacrifice” his family has made, and his continuing service to veterans in his area.
