Legislation was introduced in Congress today to extend the construction deadline for the new Education Center at the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington DC.
H.R. 3689 was introduced by representatives on the House Natural Resources Committee and if passed will grant a four year extension for construction of the Center which was originally slated for completion by November 17, 2010.
According to the Lincoln Journal, the original authorizing legislation for the Center falls under the Commemorative Works Act which authorizes seven years from enactment for completion of a project.
The center will be located underground, near the site of the Vietnam Memorial Wall and will serve to educate visitors about the Vietnam War
